On March 31 Waterford West State School celebrated the opening of a new building delivered by Wiley.
The Queensland Department of Education have invested in an outstanding new learning facility for the vibrant Waterford West State School community.
Local first Nations elder Auntie Robyn Williams delivered a heart-felt Welcome to Country, followed by a traditional Smoking Ceremony performed by Tommy Coghill. The building was officially opened by The Honorable Shannon Fentiman MP, Attorney-General, Minister for Justice, Minister for Women and Minister for the prevention of Domestic and Family Violence.
Remarkably, the project had been planned to encompass 6 new General Learning Areas, but midway through construction addition funding was made available for a further 6 GLAs and the scope was doubled. Principal Allison McClean sung Wiley’s praises for the delivery of the project, their response to the change in scope and the relationship the team formed with the school.
Extra to the new building, Wiley undertook a state of the art playground expansion and indigenous garden space. Thanks to this seamless collaboration Waterford West State school is well placed to serve a proud and growing community.
Wiley would like to make special mention of our team of expert project partners who helped realise this project for the community at Waterford West State School.
